Rockland via Dix Island and Perrys Creek

We had a beautiful couple of days slowly bringing the boat to Rockland. We spent a night at Dix Island then sailed over to Vinalhaven to spend a night at Perrys Creek.

Fun Times With Friends

We sailed the boat to Tenants Harbor and met the Weymouths on WILDWOOD.  On Sunday Dave and Nanette sailed with us.  Thank you Dave for showing us how to use the spinnaker!

New Radar Post and Solar Panel

First Overnight

We spent our first night on the boat at one of our favorite places, Harbor Island. It was wonderful to finally have a chance to enjoy the boat.  We are thrilled with how well she sails!

Upgrading All Of The Systems All At Once

Upgrades/Replacements

·         Batteries, water heater, stove, head and plumbing, most of the wiring, water hoses, VHF, GPS, anchor and rode, steering wheel, forward hatch, misc paint and varnish

New

·         Propane locker, bow roller, windlass, radar, radar post, solar panels, inverter, refrigeration, battery box, reading lights

Goodbye Rondo

We were happily surprised at the amount of interest we had in RONDO.  The new owners are very nice and we hope they have a great time with this fun little boat.

Blisters

Because of the age of the boat we had expected some blisters.  It turned out "some" became "lots". This was a long and time consuming job to properly dry out and repair all of the blisters. 

March 2016 - CORRET is home!

It is nice to have nice friends.  Bill contacted our friends Bob and Gail who live in Annapolis. We met them on our first trip to the Bahamas where they were cruising on their beautiful boat STAR. They graciously invited him to stay at their house, use their car, and volunteered their labor.  Bill flew down for a few days to prepare the boat to be trailered to Maine.

When CORRET arrived at Lyman Morse and I saw her out of the water for the first time my first thought was, "Oh my God what have we done, this boat is enormous!".  For those of you who have sailed on RONDO, our Pearson Triton, you will understand why CORRET looked huge!

The first task was to remove everything removable so we could start upgrading systems.

I am always amazed at how much stuff a boat can hold.  They have more space than Harry Potter's tent. 

The interior cleaned out - now we are ready to start work!

Safety is important when working on or around boats.  Be prepared!

Valentine's Day Present

Although we love our old boat  RONDO we decided to look for a bigger boat.   On a very cold Valentine's Day weekend we drove to Annapolis and decided to buy CORRET, a 1980 Islander 36.

Philippe seemed very happy that CORRET had found a new home.
